WHAT is the SNP for anymore?
The Free Scotland Party has launched a scathing attack on the SNP asking if the leadership of the SNP are too interested in power and running devolution for London to be nationalists.
Brian Nugent, spokesperson for Free Scotland said, “the question has to be asked ‘What is the SNP for anymore?’ You used to vote SNP for Independence. Then you were asked to vote SNP for a referendum on Independence. But when Labour’s Wendy Alexander was offering the votes to get a referendum passed through the Scottish Parliament rather than biting Labour's hand off, the SNP decided to play hard to get.”
“Independence has been 'parked' while the SNP has been sucked in to administering devolution in Edinburgh for London. The suspicion has to be that the leadership of the SNP are not sure if they want Independence now that they have a taste of power.”
“In 2010, how will the minority SNP government get enough votes to get a Referendum bill through the Edinburgh parliament? Where will the extra support come from? Will they still be the Scottish government at that point? As a minority government, they could be voted out of office at any time.”
“The Unionist parties are currently so inept that they are a gift but why give them three years to regroup? We can be sure that the UK government, Labour or Tory, will use this time to mess Scotland about. The SNP should have called Alexander and Labour's bluff. This was a golden opportunity missed.”
“Independence is too important to be left to a party that does not know what it is for anymore.”
“On the broader issue of Independence in Europe, what kind of Independence does this meaningless sound bite slogan represent?
“You can not be Independent in the European Union, there is a clue in the second word in the EU's name and that is Union! Where is the logic in wanting to leave one small union (the UK) but at the same time wanting to be part of an even bigger union (the EU)? No one talks about Independence in the UK but that makes as much sense as Independence in Europe does.”
“With the Lisbon Treaty being enforced, without voters being asked, the United States of Europe is coming soon to a country and continent near you! The EU is not democratic but the SNP want to hitch what was their major aim of Independence to a corrupt, bureaucratic, authoritarian, undemocratic organisation.”
“The Free Scotland Party is committed to a fully Independent Scotland outwith the European Union. Scottish solutions to Scottish problems do not come from London. Scottish solutions to Scottish problems do not come from Brussels. Scottish solutions to Scottish problems will come from a government elected by and answerable only to voters in Scotland.”
Free Scotland on Scottish Independence
Scottish Independence means the restoration of Scottish sovereignty. Decisions about Scotland made in Scotland by politicians based in Scotland answerable only to voters in Scotland.
Why does Free Scotland oppose membership of the EU?
The EU is not democratic, unelected appointees run the EU.
EU law takes precedence over Scots law.
80% of Edinburgh or Westminster legislation is EU regulation.
Membership costs Scotland over £5 billion each year.
The Common Agricultural Policy costs each average Scots family an extra £20 per week.
The EU is corrupt; EU accounts have not been passed for the 13th consecutive year.
Free Scotland on the Lisbon Treaty
French and Dutch voters voted down the EU Constitution.
The Constitution is back with 90% of the content as the Lisbon Treaty. Only voters in Ireland are to get a referendum, all other voters across Europe are deliberately to be denied an opportunity to vote on the Lisbon Treaty.
Whatever else the EU is; it is not a democracy!
